Insulation: industrial buildings

How insulating an industrial building can save you money

If you’re in the habit of pulling on a sweater or a heavy coat at work when it gets a bit nippy or rushing out for ice creams in the summer, we want to talk to you.

Industrial buildings, including factories and warehouses, are not known for their comfort in the extremes of Scottish weather, and it may be that you’re already considering upgrading your heating system as we approach another winter.

But, you could end up wasting money on your heating bills if you don’t stop and think about insulation first. There is little point in installing state-of-the-art heating, if all the cosy warmth is escaping through the walls, windows or roof.

Retrofitting insulation to your building is important if you want to maximise your savings. It could also influence your decision on which heating system to invest in. And, not only will proper insulation keep you warm in winter, it will also help you maintain cooler temperatures in summer.

Now might just be the perfect time to upgrade…

The Scottish Government is currently providing financial support to help Scottish small and medium-sized businesses upgrade to modern, energy efficient heating systems. This includes unsecured interest-free loans and cashback grants of up to £20k while funds last.

In addition, making the change now during current COVID-19 restrictions could be a lot less disruptive to your business if your working patterns have changed.

And of course, with winter fast approaching making upgrades now could slash your heating bills this winter.

Is retrofit the best approach?

In this webinar, we will look at ways to insulate industrial buildings. We will consider where most heat is being lost from and explore the solutions.

A lot of the time it is down to the lightweight steel walls and roofs, often uninsulated, which present little shielding from the outside low temperatures of winter and during the summer may present overheating. Also an issue are holes that let hot air out and cold air in. These will be explored, and solutions discussed.

Join this webinar to:

  • Learn to identify heat loss.
  • Look at ways in which the comfort of the building can be improved through insulation.
  • Know the do’s and don’ts when retrofitting your building.
  • Find out what insulation materials will work best for you.
  • Evaluate the cost effectiveness of different interventions.
